Bloghop!

Thank you for stopping by - today I am participating in a bloghop for world card-making day. Doesn't that sound like the best day ever? You can click the banner above to visit tons of great blogs with holiday cards for this event. Thanks, Opration Write Home - for another fun blog event!

Here is my holiday card for the hop - I used some of my favorite holiday papers, stamps and embellies. You know, the kind that you have to FORCE yourself to use because you don't want to use them all up because they are too pretty??? This candy stripe paper is my most favorite thing ever. :)

I saw a similar layout in a recent card magazine* and decided to try an A2 sized version of it. If you want to make this card, here are the measurements:

Card base (white) 8.5 x 5.5" folded in half.
Green mat: 4 x 5.25"
Candy stripe mat: 3.75 x 5"
Two green rectangle mats: 2.5 x 2.25"
Two patterned paper mats: 2.25 x 2"
One green mat for sentiment: 3.75 x 2"
One patterned paper mat for sentiment: 3.5 x 1.75"
One white mat for sentiment: 3.25 x 1.5"

I also used a 10" piece of ribbon, a stamped sentiment (Peace On Earth set), my favorite Mistletoe papers, a mistletoe sticker, white and green markers for faux stitching and some New England Ivy and Cranberry inks, all by Close To My Heart.

Thank you for stopping by!

Wonderful cards - thanks for all the details. I'm glad it was faux stitching - I was trying to figure out how you got it on such a thin strip! ;)
Thanks for sharing with OWH.

Doesn't it make you feel good to use your special supplies to make something this wonderful? Nice crisp look!

I really like that you gave the measurements. Also I have a hard time using stripes. Now I have an idea of how to use them.

That paper is pretty cute, Nancy, I can see why you want to hang on to it. I'm guilty of the same thing. But look what a great card it made!

I think it's especially nice that you used your favorite paper to make this for OWH! The matted rectangles behind the sentiment are a great design feature.

I like how your card is CAS but yet it has a lot going on, in a good way. It has elements of interest but yet it's not overdone. I like it; TFS

Great card Nancy! I love designs that have bold sentiments as their focal points. The papers are beautiful (I can see why you're hoarding them, LOL) and I am totally into faux stitching lately... it's a perfect finishing touch.

Hi Nancy, thank you for the nice words on my blog. I'm still trying to get through the whole blog hop - slow and steady wins the race.
