<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Welcome! Wow, I'm excited to be back into blogging mode. I'm very excited to be a part of the blog hop this week with <a href="http://www.operationwritehome.org/">Operation Write Home</a> and <a href="http://www.unitystampco.com/">Unity Stamp Co</a>! What an awesome bunch of stamps they have to offer!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Today I am using the stamp set called Ragged ol' Flag. They're so grungy and cool looking! I immediately thought of masculine colors and themes. I especially like the Johnny Cash quote!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I stamped the flag stamp onto kraft cardstock and embossed with clear embossing powder. I was going to add the sentiment to the outside of this card as well, but it just covered up too much of the awesome flag image. I decided that less is more. I love this simple card. The clear embossing powder gives it a cool texture, too.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjIyQNGZxT0vIxba_doeqYi3kmAoze7xAiclEwno9htO0NYZ8gRgmuRkJRXRHlQoI1GqAj2GfrVC6_v529traEyeulhK7bti3WerCX7Xmesf7lJk8gCt2MrhyphenhyphenT2Dn8WLa8gSY4jF_b37E/s1600/unitybloghop_nkeller2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjIyQNGZxT0vIxba_doeqYi3kmAoze7xAiclEwno9htO0NYZ8gRgmuRkJRXRHlQoI1GqAj2GfrVC6_v529traEyeulhK7bti3WerCX7Xmesf7lJk8gCt2MrhyphenhyphenT2Dn8WLa8gSY4jF_b37E/s1600/unitybloghop_nkeller2.jpg" height="269" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I went ahead and put the sentiment on the inside of the card. I do think that this would make an awesome "Any Hero" card for OWH.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjn9Gjh9XPfN035yDiusdqpikHEh7XMKoZY0QGo9Yw8JQCQ6SAD6mbVGRciiTArCA3DOP8qyyVQ98wOKDUNCuX1Psi6mIdWZXl0AJz4XUnQltJqaJq-YPUu6dLX9kL0CXNZ3tKDstCZWw8/s1600/unitybloghop_nkeller3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjn9Gjh9XPfN035yDiusdqpikHEh7XMKoZY0QGo9Yw8JQCQ6SAD6mbVGRciiTArCA3DOP8qyyVQ98wOKDUNCuX1Psi6mIdWZXl0AJz4XUnQltJqaJq-YPUu6dLX9kL0CXNZ3tKDstCZWw8/s1600/unitybloghop_nkeller3.jpg" height="166" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The more I played with these stamps the more I loved them, especially the "handmade" stamp. I wanted to think of a way to incorporate this in to the front of a card. "Made in the U.S.A." also makes me think of things like apple pie and jeans. :) So here is my second card. I used some denim patterned paper and I stitched using a template and some light tan floss. The star stamp is heat embossed with white powder so that it, too, has a cool texture.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
Well, here's a fun thing! I've been following this page over on Facebook called <a href="https://www.facebook.com/MyCraftRoomToo">Erica's Room</a>. There are a few really great blog hops coming up and I thought this would be a fun one to join in on since I've been working on this little mini-album for a friend!<br />
<br />
So if you've stopped here for the "My Cricut Craft Room's Mini Album Blog Hop," you're in the right place! Here is my little album:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWh2eoKm5I8CFXPyCvfIIKumFNIki071_w3FZhZjgU28if0enQ8jBI1fjqjVKyUZenu9x21W8D0HlBxpHtva8KdyqAcFMi5Ub5OuxCJ0EOarksHulUSG4xhwode4UsJUzxRBelXRvMkpM/s1600/minialbum1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWh2eoKm5I8CFXPyCvfIIKumFNIki071_w3FZhZjgU28if0enQ8jBI1fjqjVKyUZenu9x21W8D0HlBxpHtva8KdyqAcFMi5Ub5OuxCJ0EOarksHulUSG4xhwode4UsJUzxRBelXRvMkpM/s1600/minialbum1.JPG" height="320" width="274" /></a></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This was my first attempt at creating a mini-album from envelopes. I used some 5x7 kraft colored envelopes to make the pages. I made the cover and many other pages from the DCWV "Playtime" stack. Some accents were made using the "Storybook" cricut cartridge. Isn't this fun for a baby girl?<br />
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgovqA15K-zzdKGlbdOf0k7XQoIdq3j-bwZQ7RDwxVslO_b5rfrhumpvkxIgHPasA2iqJs_zluJEGNlCct3aWBb6c-7ZOvHdiM_r5F2GFfNJedbKlk5SsPso-YPv0BYXC4qlAXtfvHUe9c/s1600/minialbum2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgovqA15K-zzdKGlbdOf0k7XQoIdq3j-bwZQ7RDwxVslO_b5rfrhumpvkxIgHPasA2iqJs_zluJEGNlCct3aWBb6c-7ZOvHdiM_r5F2GFfNJedbKlk5SsPso-YPv0BYXC4qlAXtfvHUe9c/s1600/minialbum2.JPG" height="320" width="288" /></a></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The book looks a little flat at the time, I left lots of extra room for the pages to expand in the cover after the photos are added.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZz7V_MnngIGcrYvmTciPMTkeWDj67c7aSBLknHw7nyTm9XcFlDoFW4aruR2ZDEBlMuQd0ndEJbeNMCOcnb4H86gUEMNHY2yI7zKpmkJoRkPDRao-_7yo7UVJ-Wg5Kvl16yNIYon5057c/s1600/minialbum3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZz7V_MnngIGcrYvmTciPMTkeWDj67c7aSBLknHw7nyTm9XcFlDoFW4aruR2ZDEBlMuQd0ndEJbeNMCOcnb4H86gUEMNHY2yI7zKpmkJoRkPDRao-_7yo7UVJ-Wg5Kvl16yNIYon5057c/s1600/minialbum3.JPG" height="260" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I made some fun interactive pages and I used anything leftover that I could find that was pink or white or frilly!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrIBs_bBM-yBOXumauexzdSzgUE7WExoAgPbqlIleF3oiIM5kcElHwypVHBda0el0wQSsm9PJ1byv8x5pmith9pIrSCs0BdMbW_tH1sWWlFxGRhfrzlAZAuLgVSLb_Rv3Mp-esmPdc3Eo/s1600/minialbum4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrIBs_bBM-yBOXumauexzdSzgUE7WExoAgPbqlIleF3oiIM5kcElHwypVHBda0el0wQSsm9PJ1byv8x5pmith9pIrSCs0BdMbW_tH1sWWlFxGRhfrzlAZAuLgVSLb_Rv3Mp-esmPdc3Eo/s1600/minialbum4.JPG" height="268" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The flaps were cut off of some of the envelopes to make cute pocket pages. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglGXPMEy5XPK3uGIXjOWsBFAogFMlvuc0fS8TH06Co7EC3PYEJwHMAk5JXwoQUpA_5s3GbROLVjt2DqJ3fnVNFYhmdws-H3YmA6sJAAKu6gbFRHzzSv1EcUPrTaZYsRwncVjCt339vRq4/s1600/minialbum6.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglGXPMEy5XPK3uGIXjOWsBFAogFMlvuc0fS8TH06Co7EC3PYEJwHMAk5JXwoQUpA_5s3GbROLVjt2DqJ3fnVNFYhmdws-H3YmA6sJAAKu6gbFRHzzSv1EcUPrTaZYsRwncVjCt339vRq4/s1600/minialbum6.JPG" height="290" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It was fun to make something glittery and girly for a change. :)<br />
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMW3-GV0Yo4gc3Y6bjPw5fBLiN84ETcC11TU4lrOiYxx8dVOzmnbA72MEkylrany8g3QE8tZ2iNz_ZuX5kjRK1sNVWyictMf5jVcp0vbYaHASmORgI2G_P3itxE03LohlU3JP5JNDwsiA/s1600/minialbum5.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMW3-GV0Yo4gc3Y6bjPw5fBLiN84ETcC11TU4lrOiYxx8dVOzmnbA72MEkylrany8g3QE8tZ2iNz_ZuX5kjRK1sNVWyictMf5jVcp0vbYaHASmORgI2G_P3itxE03LohlU3JP5JNDwsiA/s1600/minialbum5.JPG" height="314" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It's so hard to take still photos of a mini-album and show all of the fun interactive pages! I made a tiny video to show a little more of the album in action.<br />
<br />
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Wooo! I finally got some crafty time in this weekend! It's been a while. I really enjoyed sitting down with my paper and stamps and stuff to make a few things I've been looking forward to. Going to try to cram them all into one post, so hang on to your shorts. :)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I've been meaning to catch up with my <a href="http://www.deconstructingjen.com/">Deconstructed Sketches </a>because I love them so much... here are a few... 156 and 147. I've got quite a few to do before I catch up! I used some Stampin' Up punches, some printed kraft cardstock I got at Joann's, and some paper from an Authentique 6x6 pad that I just love. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I made use of my SU Petite Petals stamp and punch set for these ones. I had a package of "pockets" in my stash that I'be been hoarding for years and years. They were made by MakingMemories, and they are real fabric. Glad that I saved them for these cards. :)</div>

I HAVE been practicing with my copics. I colored these little guys in front of the TV the other night. The stamps are all from <a href="http://www.lawnfawn.com/">Lawn Fawn</a>. Critters Ever After, and Love 'n Breakfast (The little cupcake is really a muffin, but don't tell! ) I also made use of some really tiny stars that I got in a beauty supply store. They're for manicures, but I thought that they would be fun for this too. </div>

<span style="font-size: large;">Well, Hello!</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm welcoming visitors for the Operation Write Home / Great Impressions blog hop today! If you would like to start at the beginning of this little hop, you can do that over at <a href="http://operationwritehome.org/starsandstamps/">Stars & Stamps</a>! If you have come here from <a href="http://sparkly-train.blogspot.com/">Mary Anne's Blog</a>, you are right on track! Isn't it a beautiful day for a hop?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Today I am sharing a card made for OWH using one of our cute new Great Impressions fundraiser sets. I'll be following this OWH sketch #227:<br />
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
In addition to the adorable Great Impressions - <a href="http://www.greatimpressionsstamps.com/ecommerce/shop/owh.html">Home and Sentiments</a> set, I used some cute paper by We R Memory Keepers, a Spellbinders die and some die cut / punched stars. I colored with Copic markers and used some Liquid Glass on the cute hearts and windows:</div>

<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I really love this adorable little set and it is so nice for them to donate 20% back to OWH. Many thanks to Ms. Deone for letting me participate in this today and to Great Impressions for teaming up with us. These stamps have such wonderful detail and they stick so nicely to your acrylic blocks. The letters in the sentiment are a nice font that stamp out very crisply - and what great sentiments for OWH cards! I really enjoyed working with them!</div>

Staycation! It's a vacation, of sorts, where you just stay at home. Sounds fine to me... I've got all of my favorite people and things here! It's spring break in Idaho and the snow is falling gently in huge tufts like freshly picked cotton. Sick of it. Seriously. :)<br />
<br />
Here are a few things I've been up to:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3K2HQjSQnvy-6aozzmpNBiSmAA1uUc_TEu1t76hEzMbM_rTtZmSRfaryJulD2JSn_jyyUaWxYnBmtuoods60xVTwx6yykiHCqLBtyIfgH5G0aJUOfmGoOi_QUbWuBQom_9O4WB0nhrjE/s1600/2014_lawnfawn_toast.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3K2HQjSQnvy-6aozzmpNBiSmAA1uUc_TEu1t76hEzMbM_rTtZmSRfaryJulD2JSn_jyyUaWxYnBmtuoods60xVTwx6yykiHCqLBtyIfgH5G0aJUOfmGoOi_QUbWuBQom_9O4WB0nhrjE/s1600/2014_lawnfawn_toast.jpg" height="256" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used "Love 'n Breakfast" by <a href="http://www.lawnfawn.com/">Lawn Fawn</a>. Love that set.. it makes me giggle every time! Do you remember pop-up books? I made a pop-up mechanism on this card so that the toast pops up when you pull down the little tab. It's super cute. But it took me forever to engineer. :)<br />
<br />
Here is a little demo of the movement:<br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="169" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/0wqiaVSpLKQ" width="300"></iframe></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheESNQL-AqNfOKGnjhAYZTYn58i1CwhY_KP8v53o4OUAxOaiWXiCBZOsFKKjPHR3E2Vo7R72xJgXL-j-g1bjOroXKSbIP9BDHTw8vVcYcF-zoQ0G4a63100LXKxy1LkpgYtJOru9_8VWY/s1600/2014_tiddlyinks.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheESNQL-AqNfOKGnjhAYZTYn58i1CwhY_KP8v53o4OUAxOaiWXiCBZOsFKKjPHR3E2Vo7R72xJgXL-j-g1bjOroXKSbIP9BDHTw8vVcYcF-zoQ0G4a63100LXKxy1LkpgYtJOru9_8VWY/s1600/2014_tiddlyinks.jpg" height="320" width="265" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My friend Valerie recently introduced me to <a href="http://www.tiddlyinks.com/">Tiddly Inks</a>. Thanks for that, Valerie. I also used an old sentiment stamp that I found in her stash. I have no idea where it came from but isn't it perfect?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The paper on both cards came from a new 6x6 pad by We R Memory Keepers that I picked up with my birthday haul. . . and I am off to use some more of it. Happy spring break, everyone!<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/proxy/AVvXsEgeMTKpfayGHe8xTwD2uBh9vStfixJKrREz9b7VKMg1nTAYRo9RwCxbet1EHhtUUwTjqLZI16DFcmtjlUaDCZTYVh-se0ot28zbhgRipqb7ZI6kDmE8HSBJXyf8vyZWUPqtS38QuprU3m9Qdw1K3JtZA6jwBazCHV087mcY_bcObbGTn6MqW_fyxKGc=" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="post signature" border="0" class="centered" src="http://i386.photobucket.com/albums/oo308/brujahrose/scrapcrap/signature.png" /></a></div>

I'm so excited to share my cards today that I made with the cute Die-Version's OWH dies. I used the cute "Me + You Forever" Sweet Phrases - DVPH-005. You can definitely pick this one up over at <a href="https://die-versions.com/">Die-Versions</a> along with many, many other adorable things!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I love the hexagon shape - it goes so well with lots of other hexagon shape/patterned things that are so trendy right now. I used my die on white paper and mounted on a mat of black for the card above. The die cuts so cleanly that it left me some perfectly shaped letters from the "negative space." I used them to make a second card...</div>

I also used some Darcie and ProvoCraft Cuttlebug embossing folders today, and two cute little heart-shaped blings. Everybody loves heart-shaped bling, right? I do think that these dies make some really nice looking clean-and-simple cards. </div>

I'm happy to send this great fundraiser die to a good home! I'm also happy that you stopped by today. Hope you have a very fun hop!</div>

Time kind of got away from me again... February in Idaho included a very nice sunny weekend during which I got NO scrapping, but a lot of early spring cleaning done. It was nice to open the doors and air out the house and scrub the mud off of the kitchen / mud room floor! Get out, winter!!!<br />
<br />
We also kind of got caught up watching the Olympics. Wasn't that fun? Since we live so closely to so many prime skiing areas, we had quite a few locals in the mix. How exciting! I always love watching the winter games and Russia was really neat to see and learn about.<br />
<br />
Here are a few cards that I recently got to finish up following some <a href="http://www.deconstructingjen.com/">Deconstructed Sketches</a>. I'm afraid I am too far behind to include any of these in their recent posts, but I do love following them anyway.<br />
<br />

<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I've been on a real butterfly kick, lately. What a nice excuse to use up some favorite old papers, though. This one has some wonderful felt-textured butterflies. I used a favorite Studio-G sentiment and a fun set by SU called Papillion Potpourri. (Stamps and punch set)</div>

<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Thanks a lot, Friend Valerie, for introducing me to these little "Tiddly Ink" stamps. I have been avoiding looking them up, because they are so darned cute. Here's a little go I had with my Copics and a few more butterfly dies too. Oh - Sizzlets, I think.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
More of the same plus some old butterfly paper from DCWV and a CTMH sentiment. It sure is nice to use up some old supplies. More coming soon... there is a blog hop this weekend! <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A few Seahawk colors for the <a href="http://operationwritehome.org/card-bowl-2014/">Card Bowl</a>! All of you card-loving people need to stop by this post, just to see all of the festive Denver / Seattle themed cards. It's a real hoot!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used my cute OWH fundraiser set from <a href="https://www.stampersbest.com/home.php?cat=18">Stamper's Best</a>, the Stud Puffin. I know he's not a Seahawk, but he's close and cute enough, don't you think?</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I made the flowers using my new SU Flower Shop stamps and punches. This is not a color combo that I would have usually chosen, but it sure fits the theme for today. :) Yikes! It's almost game time, and I've got to finish my cupcakes. Hope everyone has a great game day!</div>

Can you believe that there are 209 sketches over at <a href="http://operationwritehome.org/sketch-challenge-209/">Stars & Stamps</a>? They keep getting even more detailed and fun. For those who like measurements on their sketches, they have those, too. I find that I enjoy both the measurement kind of sketches, and the ones without. It's kind of fun to try to figure it out by myself. :)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
I've been working hard on something really fun for this week. I hope that you will all be as excited as I am! I've got something really fun planned for this <i>Tuesday</i>!</div>

<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used a bunch of old paper this week from the DCWV "sweet" stack. I love that paper to go with my new little "Create A Cupcake" set that I got from Jeanine, my friend who does Stampin' Up! I used some liquid pearls to give the flame a cute look and add some sprinkles to the cupcake.</div>

<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Using some more of that paper, I made quite a few "tea light cakes" (as seen on Pinterest) for little Birthday goodies. I used lots of ribbon, tiny flowers, pearls and paper flowers from the dollar bins at Michael's to make my little cakes and a scallop punch for the bottom and top layers. I've got a ton of little battery operated tea lights that I picked up at the dollar store (two for a buck!) and I'm going to make some more soon. I just cut a little 2" box for a couple of these ones, but I hear that I can cut one way more easily with one of my CTMH cartridges so I'm definitely going to be doing that, next time. :)</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But don't they look cute and delicious?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
That's all for this weekend... hope that you are having a good and safe one wherever you are. The weather seems to be miserable across the country lately, although we are having a much more mild winter than usual, here. We're actually praying for snow because we have no snow pack in many areas.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Thanks for stopping by!</div>

I'm continuing my attempts to make good blog posts using my tablet and so... Here are a few goodies that I worked on today.<br /><br />I followed the latest sketch from <a target="_blank" href="http://www.deconstructingjen.com">my favorite Deconstructed Sketches.</a><br /><br /><br /><br /><center><a href='http://photo.blogpressapp.com/show_photo.php?p=14/01/19/1073.jpg'><img src='http://photo.blogpressapp.com/photos/14/01/19/s_1073.jpg' border='0' width='227' height='320' style='margin:5px'></a></center><br />I love this one. :) I wanted to make a few special cards for some very special veterans. One will go to a sweet man who drove past my work last week and noticed our tattered flag on the flagpole. . He replaced it for us, and we want to send him a very special thank you. The other goes to a very special marine.. Who has had a rough go of it lately. I hope he gets well soon!<br /><br /><br /><center><a href='http://photo.blogpressapp.com/show_photo.php?p=14/01/19/1074.jpg'><img src='http://photo.blogpressapp.com/photos/14/01/19/s_1074.jpg' border='0' width='320' height='282' style='margin:5px'></a></center><br />I used a pretty wide variety of supplies this week including the CTMH stamp set "Courage", some K&Company stickers, some Bo Bunny Paper, a new embossing folder by The Paper Factory, some Spellbinder dies and Sizzix stars. <br /><br /><center><a href='http://photo.blogpressapp.com/show_photo.php?p=14/01/19/1075.jpg'><img src='http://photo.blogpressapp.com/photos/14/01/19/s_1075.jpg' border='0' width='240' height='320' style='margin:5px'></a></center><br />I inked and stamped the words with blue ink and heat embossed with clear powder on the same gold paper that I put through the embossing folders. It has just a slight shine to it that is really pretty.<br /><br /><center><a href='http://photo.blogpressapp.com/show_photo.php?p=14/01/19/1076.jpg'><img src='http://photo.blogpressapp.com/photos/14/01/19/s_1076.jpg' border='0' width='320' height='240' style='margin:5px'></a></center><br />Here is the stamped sentiment on the inside of the cards.<br /><br /><center><a href='http://photo.blogpressapp.com/show_photo.php?p=14/01/19/1077.jpg'><img src='http://photo.blogpressapp.com/photos/14/01/19/s_1077.jpg' border='0' width='253' height='320' style='margin:5px'></a></center><br />I used one more stamp and stamped this watermark image on the front of each envelope. The card bases and envelopes are both kraft card stock. These ones will go the special fellas mentioned above, but I think I will make a few more for my next OWH box. :) <br />Nancy Kellerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02397095162231719684noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-86960115648742692.post-75876070080671314782014-01-08T22:26:00.003-07:002014-01-08T22:26:57.773-07:00First things first...<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
<div style="text-align: center;">
First card of 2014! My goal is to post one a week this year. (At least!) This one was made to play along with this week's <a href="http://operationwritehome.org/midweek-throwdown-chalkboard/"><b>Midweek Throwdown</b></a>. I always did like the chalkboard tutorial. :)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I sort of followed <b><a href="http://operationwritehome.org/sketch-challenge-206/">this week's sketch</a></b>, as well... boy, do I need to catch up on my sketches!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Today was "early release" at school, and what a surprise... I got an early release from work too. Spent a fun afternoon with AJ and got some crafty time in this evening too. Ahh!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Background patterned paper is by DCWV. It has the inlaid glitter that doesn't come off and is safe for OWH cards. I used a new embossing folder that I got from Hobby Lobby over in Boise, by The Paper Studio.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The scallop circle is a Spellbinder die and the cute little stamp is "craft smart"... out of the dollar bin at Michael's... </div>

Well... I don't feel as successful about my personal blog as I have in the years past. 2013 has been a huge year for me, and I feel like there were a lot of other things going on, so here is a little breakdown!<br />
<br />
<b><u>The top three things/events in this year have been...</u></b><br />
<br />
1) Going from no employment, to part time employment, to full time employment! Hooray for employment! I've currently got the most fantastic new job that has taken me to great places and filled my life with new friends and experiences. I love it, and I'm very excited to see what 2014 will bring! Which leads me to...<br />
<br />
2) I went back to school (online), paid for by said employment, and became RAC-CT certified through AANAC to be an MDS coordinator. All those fancy letters mean nothing more than warm fuzzies to me, for finishing up some additional certs for my nursing license, that will last the rest of my career. (see above...) I didn't really see more schooling in my future, so this is a fantastic bonus for me.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyD0MgPYj7qManikuZAmWjujnGvhm01y1oVzZVDH00w35Y0zIcb8bKblN8MS2bqYfJwqzMUXvCeShVrK446JPBASVHMUvcmrA6sFutHUVpt8DZCjxwxCUYG940oiIlnWMKR8YECdUPzCk/s1600/RACCT.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="150" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyD0MgPYj7qManikuZAmWjujnGvhm01y1oVzZVDH00w35Y0zIcb8bKblN8MS2bqYfJwqzMUXvCeShVrK446JPBASVHMUvcmrA6sFutHUVpt8DZCjxwxCUYG940oiIlnWMKR8YECdUPzCk/s200/RACCT.jpg" width="200" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">RAC-CT certification. Woot!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
3) I completed my first full year of treatment for Lupus (SLE) with minimal hiccups along the way. I've learned a lot about living with Lupus and how to improve my life over all. I've learned a lot about my medications and I've learned a lot about making changes to my lifestyle that really, can only benefit me in many ways. Overall, I am pleased and hopeful. And I don't think that I have let it slow me down much!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivzzbLP6thL8mU7r1rAmBEGXqx7h0jsb1pbPebLgIJ2V5_vjcLLB0jYllB-4LJ2rjIU2ny_SwO4_abKr0zZfJinnu7WdVBsA1HY6BVFagUm2IKhyphenhypheniJZQXgOkx36TJCPfASQiBgc2iJ6xI/s1600/spencer.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="150" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivzzbLP6thL8mU7r1rAmBEGXqx7h0jsb1pbPebLgIJ2V5_vjcLLB0jYllB-4LJ2rjIU2ny_SwO4_abKr0zZfJinnu7WdVBsA1HY6BVFagUm2IKhyphenhypheniJZQXgOkx36TJCPfASQiBgc2iJ6xI/s200/spencer.jpg" width="200" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Top of the mountain to ya!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I'm also participating today in a list of my favorite creations of 2013. Most of these are cards for <a href="http://www.operationwritehome.org/">Operation Write Home</a>, an organization that is more near and dear to my heart as ever. I continue to donate my time and crafting skills and supplies to them weekly, because it is such a fun and worthy cause. I'm glad to say that I'll stay on the blog team again next year, or as long as they will have me, and I've got tons more fun things planned for the future!<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
There may not be twelve, but here are the cards that I'm just chuffed about this year. My "cards for kids" crusade was successful and I really enjoyed making cards for the children of our deployed heroes. I sure want to do this again in 2014!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1t0KMxJqVXv9gT8VIBrg3df9va7OppTenyHNKMtJHYx3mb_JWYbe43cwO6zk-TLjTR1WSC7elymiK_VS19aDWXtaWV1zw2rBpzHdRjCjvwSyJAuYV_BPjtpjHoJV1iPKC4CSU25jiNfM/s1600/challenge26.11.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1t0KMxJqVXv9gT8VIBrg3df9va7OppTenyHNKMtJHYx3mb_JWYbe43cwO6zk-TLjTR1WSC7elymiK_VS19aDWXtaWV1zw2rBpzHdRjCjvwSyJAuYV_BPjtpjHoJV1iPKC4CSU25jiNfM/s320/challenge26.11.jpg" width="253" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I really enjoyed doing a lot of heat embossing and decorative edge elements this year, as well as trying different coloring techniques.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPCboc35C2os3lIrchAvd8tMF31hb2nENDoXjlQN_bEFEhlZPlJDygUfZ2_rxTRZNb3xVHlTpNZZNMXRh5X4fYCCPnKSYbIgXjAqylqGop0Up0-FYaxRKdDfGoBOOWMJT3T-Cr07i-KzA/s1600/B&B3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPCboc35C2os3lIrchAvd8tMF31hb2nENDoXjlQN_bEFEhlZPlJDygUfZ2_rxTRZNb3xVHlTpNZZNMXRh5X4fYCCPnKSYbIgXjAqylqGop0Up0-FYaxRKdDfGoBOOWMJT3T-Cr07i-KzA/s320/B&B3.jpg" width="258" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Another favorite, embossing folders... I added more embossing folders to my collection than any other product this year.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrzalu0U86Fmr_jVt8Gzd1EBHnUeKxNzk-2t2hfArXGuEDHdpmhVagEU2R41l6HGomuAYKUg5dyVlvd-LulZ2qtNXaBBxLz9kbWuu-OPwLC-l_a8gNko4-EpKVKK2USX7-wv6M20sn7xQ/s1600/clementine4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrzalu0U86Fmr_jVt8Gzd1EBHnUeKxNzk-2t2hfArXGuEDHdpmhVagEU2R41l6HGomuAYKUg5dyVlvd-LulZ2qtNXaBBxLz9kbWuu-OPwLC-l_a8gNko4-EpKVKK2USX7-wv6M20sn7xQ/s320/clementine4.jpg" width="246" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I loved, loved, loved following along with <a href="http://www.deconstructingjen.com/">deconstructed sketches</a> this year. Their website has got me coming back for more, week after week, or at least as much as possible. In addition to the OWH sketches, I have used these more than any others.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEga7I1nqTCaMCWDhHdQzgz04Dq3CtscrObHQpb6VFypYz1f95aERva2L2ArJVXQiI09CVzhiODWBNoCxlWzTx6ywcJCFvFdjKCizresLxAUhjtH08ekv2yXcnr4IqzEqLIDpKhaQcJmKWU/s1600/DS105.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEga7I1nqTCaMCWDhHdQzgz04Dq3CtscrObHQpb6VFypYz1f95aERva2L2ArJVXQiI09CVzhiODWBNoCxlWzTx6ywcJCFvFdjKCizresLxAUhjtH08ekv2yXcnr4IqzEqLIDpKhaQcJmKWU/s320/DS105.jpg" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I really did a lot of fancy paper piecing this year. I find myself doing this a lot because I have really enjoyed the "slow down" and spending a lot more time and effort onto single cards, rather than pumping out a big quantity of cards.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwT6qdN9d7Ozviw-dVDts-dWp7KpRSQgiKGy59TrqSe5toDZ_U0VFnYNxKaen8PanZ4f60L0GggEqDoC-AF8gvESv5w8_u7DskQgO_RJwVMlUaWWdzmmgM9mFj4kfnn9CkiTH4i2JWHGk/s1600/critterskip1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwT6qdN9d7Ozviw-dVDts-dWp7KpRSQgiKGy59TrqSe5toDZ_U0VFnYNxKaen8PanZ4f60L0GggEqDoC-AF8gvESv5w8_u7DskQgO_RJwVMlUaWWdzmmgM9mFj4kfnn9CkiTH4i2JWHGk/s320/critterskip1.jpg" width="258" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I made both of these with a fancy new Cricut cartridge by CTMH. And I love them.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMlsm-ZWhCnKP-AZuu8Ga1SXZtHDuTcb2gV5Lp58qFmv2mC050iex36Gx8KuryI59K_UJbsOv9lN3YqepaV7i3vMb6t9IW8oS5wmZ60Yd_jLer5PYXKYnou-n_nYNX-cUQMZnFu8MYteM/s1600/CTMH_AP_Cardinal1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMlsm-ZWhCnKP-AZuu8Ga1SXZtHDuTcb2gV5Lp58qFmv2mC050iex36Gx8KuryI59K_UJbsOv9lN3YqepaV7i3vMb6t9IW8oS5wmZ60Yd_jLer5PYXKYnou-n_nYNX-cUQMZnFu8MYteM/s320/CTMH_AP_Cardinal1.jpg" width="297" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
More tiny paper details happened with the Hobbit card.</div>

Heya! So, I really didn't mean to skip over the entire month of November. :(<br />
<br />
Things have been crazy busy fun with my new job. I'm getting to travel and learn a ton of new and interesting things! I also got to go to a really nice crop this fall, and I've been busy cranking out the Christmas cards too. I'll share some of my favorites later. But for now, I've got a video to share!<br />
<br />
Again, I haven't had much time for new videos this year, but I hope that you'll enjoy this one. I really had a lot of fun tackling the myth about fixing "B" plates for your Cuttlebug. I've seen it referenced in several places, and discussed in lots of forums and sites. It's pinned all over Pinterest... so it must be true, right?<br />
<br />
Here's what happened when I filmed the whole process from start to finish. I did let the whole stack cool on the stove top for about 24 hours before the "unveiling" in the second part of the video. What you see, when I uncover the foil, is a live surprise to me, as well.<br />
<br />
I've added my own comments about what I think of the whole idea. I hope that you'll watch, enjoy and comment and let me know what <i>you</i> think.<br />
<br />
Good luck, and be safe!<br />

I'm not sure if I just have a new thing for making things extra tiny, or if I am trying to make myself go blind. :) Maybe both? I had a lot of fun today making this tiny tea light haunted house for Halloween.<br />
<br />
I'm wild about LED tea lights right now, since I found a whole ton of them at the dollar store. I've been surfing Pinterest for tea light cakes, snowmen, pumpkins, and all kinds of cute things. But you know me. I like to experiment.. lol.<br />
<br />
I made a 4 inch "House 5" from the Winter Woodland Cricut cartridge. These little houses were meant to make a little snow village, but I thought a haunted house would be fun. 4" cuts the house so small, that some of the tiniest parts couldn't be assembled. I tried. I just couldn't get those tiny rooftop windows to work, so I covered the roof with punch-border strips instead. I cut some pieces of green vellum to line the inside of the house to make spooky windows.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5a6_cGAdvr6sFfQcgfC0BT_XkSx773QICH9df_57zjZt8j5hnNnmVrhzTxKrNj-oAyADr5vEzhHPHE2Duiu7M7sBnM1BNDiGIiGPNnWSUoCxbrRGsrMRVHhIyZDj2XHY2ccYPMqDxll8/s1600/2013_NK_cricuthouse1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5a6_cGAdvr6sFfQcgfC0BT_XkSx773QICH9df_57zjZt8j5hnNnmVrhzTxKrNj-oAyADr5vEzhHPHE2Duiu7M7sBnM1BNDiGIiGPNnWSUoCxbrRGsrMRVHhIyZDj2XHY2ccYPMqDxll8/s320/2013_NK_cricuthouse1.jpg" width="314" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I wanted to add a whole bunch of more decorations, so I used the Paper Doll Dress Up Cartridge to cut a fence, some ghosts, a pumpkin, the little black cat and a bat and a tree. They were all cut at 3/4" except the tree, which I cut at 3".</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrc6Jk39ltNlfeWw9U0EPaEN3GSHDzvpuRIWc1XftlhoAsIpsQWbVgkNz2WHRpvr-BrGdF4KdOCvUiiKqfqbp9E8wL773m9evx6tfNCe5nJf8jmcX81HAJk4pVR9Wu8EdY5SjQL0IPQcg/s1600/2013_NK_cricuthouse2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrc6Jk39ltNlfeWw9U0EPaEN3GSHDzvpuRIWc1XftlhoAsIpsQWbVgkNz2WHRpvr-BrGdF4KdOCvUiiKqfqbp9E8wL773m9evx6tfNCe5nJf8jmcX81HAJk4pVR9Wu8EdY5SjQL0IPQcg/s320/2013_NK_cricuthouse2.jpg" width="314" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Assembling all of this took quite some time, as you can imagine, but I do think that it's the most fun decoration I have made out of paper. :) These photos don't really do much to show the real size of this tiny project, so I grabbed the closest thing I could find to show for scale.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I didn't use an OWH sketch because the background is just CAS, one blue and one white embossed mat. Then I added my favorite punch people from this year. I produced an entire army of minions in order to fulfill my goal of making tons of cards for kids for <a href="http://operationwritehome.org/">Operation Write Home</a> this year. I thought I would try making a "thank you" card with them as well. Did you know that minions even have their own language? Google it! :)</div>

<b>Hello, and welcome, blog skippers! If you came here from <a href="http://www.lezlyes.blogspot.com/2013/09/owh-birthday-bash-w-perfect.html">Lezlye's site</a>, you have arrived safely! I'm so glad that you came to see what I will demonstrate from Perfect Paper Crafting today!</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The product that I was so lucky to get to try is called the Perfect Layers tool. These ruler-looking straight-edge tools are just wonderful for making borders and layers for our card making. We all love lots of layers, right?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
First off, I was very impressed by the craftsmanship of these tools. I do love high quality tools that are not flimsy because I know that they will be available in my papercrafting arsenal for a very long time! The three Perfect Layers tools shown here make it possible to create twelve different sizes of layers, can you imagine that? Tool #1 will make borders that measure 1/8, 5/8, 1/4 and 3/8". Tool #2 creates borders of 1/16, 1/2, 3/16 and 5/16", and so on. What a fantastic thing, not to have to worry about measurements. Just line up the width that you choose along each edge of your desired mat, and cut away. It's goof proof!</div>

Here is what the tools look like close up. I love how the numbers that you see at the end of the tools show which measurement you will get using that edge. Just place the edge with the desired measurement right side up, and you are good to go. The tools are also made to work for both right and left-handed cutters. Bonus!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I decided to use this week's <a href="http://operationwritehome.org/sketch-challenge-191/">sketch # 191</a> to make my example card, because it already has lots of opportunities to make pretty layers.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I proceeded by preparing the pieces that I wanted to layer on some kraft colored card stock. I distressed the pieces of patterned paper first, and then used my ATG to glue them onto the kraft paper, leaving plenty of space to create edges. Perfect edges!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivddwYjDhE1eiBUaJ_EP5IW27XAG7YNcCUzeJpUOGG4r0qOklJaeCkq37gzLNoIK7LKxmffRvKR_FZD_wiD-xQJ8UBfxWtbcTrkQ49hPSqbLMko47wFe_K3REG2uQFlpuh1nOuWL_C_Mw/s1600/perfectlayers3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="282" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivddwYjDhE1eiBUaJ_EP5IW27XAG7YNcCUzeJpUOGG4r0qOklJaeCkq37gzLNoIK7LKxmffRvKR_FZD_wiD-xQJ8UBfxWtbcTrkQ49hPSqbLMko47wFe_K3REG2uQFlpuh1nOuWL_C_Mw/s320/perfectlayers3.jpg" width="320" /></a> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After much consideration, I decided to forego the cutting, which would have meant using the edge tool and a craft knife on a self-healing mat. I wanted to try the tools for something a little more than the obvious, so I used my left hand to hold down the tool, grabbed the kraft paper with my right, and gave it a good rip!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPWwoPSFuAhlqHpuz9xI13mebapaVRJGj9zWfdMDgVHRrsXNEi9UjE4xDhTABsr-_W7rGplkY7heTdpm407eP6JzoJ-HAQ5t0TBM7V-8-w9vRxtlUP66x90l6Zuu7zbPf0X4w3mbQppzM/s1600/perfectlayer2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="282" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPWwoPSFuAhlqHpuz9xI13mebapaVRJGj9zWfdMDgVHRrsXNEi9UjE4xDhTABsr-_W7rGplkY7heTdpm407eP6JzoJ-HAQ5t0TBM7V-8-w9vRxtlUP66x90l6Zuu7zbPf0X4w3mbQppzM/s320/perfectlayer2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I love this. I love the look of paper tearing but I've never been able to get such a precise edge. In fact, I really doubt if I would have been able to accomplish this look without the Perfect Layers tool because my free-hand tearing would have been a disaster. I <i>really</i> enjoyed creating this look for a shabby-chic kind of card. I can definitely see using these tools over and over to create both straight cut, and torn edges in the exact measurements that I need.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I created three, torn edged mats to complete this romantic card. I hope that one of our heroes chooses it to send to their sweetie!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I wanted to try something <i>different</i> with this cute set, and I think that it was successful.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsVceOZQY6Mvl37IswR1zFDj5TmcwQRlTEADxwKpAoauQUF9tbzwWhNdH84hySGzQeWWqBnSM5V_XwpRfO7cpgFWH0pPiuoIW_72FVpYW7tRO1mueQ2vZkdO_17EcJXKCRjom7XXce4CM/s1600/HeroArts_OWHBlogskip4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="256" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsVceOZQY6Mvl37IswR1zFDj5TmcwQRlTEADxwKpAoauQUF9tbzwWhNdH84hySGzQeWWqBnSM5V_XwpRfO7cpgFWH0pPiuoIW_72FVpYW7tRO1mueQ2vZkdO_17EcJXKCRjom7XXce4CM/s320/HeroArts_OWHBlogskip4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I kept my base clean and simple and stamped using black, and white embossing powders. Then, I stamped the balloons again using StazOn ink. I stamped onto some scraps of foil paper that I had in my scrap stash.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There are a few things that are helpful when stamping on foil... don't try heat embossing, it will melt the foil. Ask me how I know. :) Don't use too much ink when stamping on the foil... it makes the stamp and ink too squishy and the image comes out smeared very easily - since the foil surface is pretty slick. I made sure to run around the edges of my pieces with a black marker after fussy cutting, since the foil paper has a white core. Marking the edges made them look much nicer.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Getting photos of foil on cards is pretty tricky. I either got too much glare, or the foil didn't show well. I guess that these are one of those cards that look better in person. The foil is really vibrant, I especially like how it looks on the black paper. It feels like a nice way to bling up a card without glitter!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I sure do thank you for stopping by today. Be sure to continue the skip by stopping over at <a href="http://www.handmadebyjulie.com/?p=3759">Julie's</a> next. She's always got something beautiful to share!</span> </div>

Just in case you need some more of this stamp set, here are some old balloon cards from this set that I made last year. Hopefully, they are floating around somewhere in the hands of one of our heroes' loved ones now. I just love these balloons!</div>

Oh my goodness... leave it to Facebook for reuniting me with a bunch of old friends from the past! I'm having so much fun looking back in time to when I used to do a lot of pixel art. There were a bunch of us who used to be in forums and we would make these little characters, one pixel at a time in photoshop. I did some searching through my old archives and found a few from back in the day but I'm afraid that I've lost a lot over time.<br />
<br />
It seems I did these mostly between 2003 - 2005 and my old website, Momma's Dollz is long since gone. I remember working nights and playing around with these in the wee hours on the nights that I was off work, because I couldn't sleep! So much fun. I'll try to post a few. I don't think that I ever got real great at it. It's sad because Facebook doesn't allow you to post .gif files, which I did a lot of.<br />

These last two were called "signatures" and someone made them for me, but I can't remember who or when, exactly. It will be fun to see who I can reunite with. <span style="text-align: left;">It sure is fun to catch up with old friends, and see what everyone else is up to these days. I'm loving it. :) What did YOU do before paper crafts, scrapbooking and cardmaking?</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The Birthday Bash continues for Operation Write Home this week with some goodies from <a href="http://www.stampersbest.com/home.php?cat=18">Stampers Best</a>! Wow, they have a whole truck load of stamps for OWH and donate $1.00 per each set sold to us... isn't that awesome!? I bet that you will see lots of their focal point stamps along your hop today, but I'm here today to show you another side of things! (Does this surprise you? No, it should not.) :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My favorite set from Stamper's Best is this one:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The Logos Rubber Stamp Set for $8.99</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
When first the name changed from "Cards for Heroes" to "Operation Write Home", we all got the free little red rubber stamps for the backs of our cards! You can read up on the history <a href="http://operationwritehome.org/about-owh-2/">here</a>, if you want. It's a fun story. You can also still, thanks to Stampers Best, get one of those freebie stamps <a href="http://operationwritehome.org/free/">here</a>! If you haven't done this yet, and you participate with us, please, make this important step! Stamping the backs of your cards to label them clearly as coming from Operation Write Home is such an important finishing touch. If your cards arrive to your shipper already stamped, it is such a huge help!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now then, about that freebie. My very first freebie stamp remains to be the one and only stamp in my collection that I have almost lovingly used to death. I use it so often that I have given it a little place of honor. I'll share that with you later. My freebie stamp was used so much that I decided to supplement it with the Logos set from SB. I have always been so glad that I did! It's fun to have a little variety and options for my card backs. These are all cards that I have shown here on my blog in the recent months. You've already seen their pretty faces. Now it is time for me to show you a little behind the scenes? Are you ready, cards?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;">Aboooooout... face!!</span></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
(There are lots of them, so I made them small. You can click them to zoom in if you like.)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The logo stamps in this set are slightly larger than the freebie stamp. I like this, and I love that the little "Thank you for your service" message is included. It's such a nice touch.</div>

Here you can see two cards made on a kraft base. Stamping the backs of these can be done with a dark colored ink, or, you can use the label method. I bought a sheet of label paper - the kind that you might put through a printer - and stamped several logos onto it and cut them out. I keep these on hand for labeling the backs of dark colored cards, so that our OWH logo is still very easy to see!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is another card made on a dark base. This card is more formal and elegant on the front, rather than cutesey and fun. I used gold embossing powder to stamp the logo on the back of this one. Now isn't that fancy?</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjm1hCi0Z0yjxh7A4sezFbVWp7yFG926cwIlp47zWIl_nqiUbDk_ZqQN3xIOXOkOfONPSYBdV24yhKP_nq5ZNfW_dEkZDVSYeJ1TlQLxeKvuuEEaiKO6KAwRzzEWb_0F9IkJGr3zaIkqts/s1600/Stampers_Best_OWHSkip4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjm1hCi0Z0yjxh7A4sezFbVWp7yFG926cwIlp47zWIl_nqiUbDk_ZqQN3xIOXOkOfONPSYBdV24yhKP_nq5ZNfW_dEkZDVSYeJ1TlQLxeKvuuEEaiKO6KAwRzzEWb_0F9IkJGr3zaIkqts/s200/Stampers_Best_OWHSkip4.jpg" width="148" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The stamp set includes two little stamps that say simply, "OWH" instead of the whole title, "Operation Write Home." When using these ones, it is best to also include the circle part that says, "Thank you for your service - operationwritehome.org" That way, there is no confusion over what the "OWH" stands for. I do love that this part includes the URL, so that the sender, or recipient of this card can <i>easily</i> look us up and see what we are all about!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now then, as for my old freebie, I gave it a place of honor. I picked up a self-inking stamp at the office supply store and mounted it carefully inside. It comes in real handy when I have multiple cards to stamp after a card party. If you love this idea, you might like to know that you can order your favorite logo stamps this way too, over at <a href="http://www.stampxpress.com/category.aspx?categoryID=107">StampXpress</a>. They are more expensive to order them individually this way. For my needs, Stampers Best was the way to go, because I love the variety of looks that I can get for the backs of my cards with this one, great set. </div>

Winner!<br />I can't thank you guys enough for all of the VCMP participation! I am overwhelmed by how much participation that there was... To date, there are 122 cards in the InLinkz and I've seen even more cards done with the sketch lately. I'm so happy to see so many of these and I'm so proud of you all for your participation with Operation Write Home!<br /><br /><center><a href='http://photo.blogpressapp.com/show_photo.php?p=13/09/08/2601.jpg'><img src='http://photo.blogpressapp.com/photos/13/09/08/s_2601.jpg' border='0' width='160' height='206' style='margin:5px'></a></center><br />Without further ado.. I used random.org to pick a winner from the inLinkz and the lucky winner out of 122 is number 61, Miss Cheryl L.<br /><br />I went and borrowed A copy of Chery's cute sketch card from her blog, <a target="_blank" href="http://papermorsels.wordpress.com/">Paper Morsels</a>. I've got some newer links that I still need to go check out, but I remember Cheryl L's for her cute snowman. <br /><br /><br /><br /><center><a href='http://photo.blogpressapp.com/show_photo.php?p=13/09/08/2602.jpg'><img src='http://photo.blogpressapp.com/photos/13/09/08/s_2602.jpg' border='0' width='240' height='320' style='margin:5px'></a></center><br />Thanks again, all of you. . . Ill be in touch with Cheryl to get her the blog candy snowflake and don't worry, there's lots more yet to come!<br />Nancy Kellerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02397095162231719684noreply@blogger.com1
